It’s safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other, with the pandemic changing the way we live, work and celebrate. Families gathered virtually during the festive season, while countless frontline workers continued fighting the good fight to protect our communities. Taking inspiration from true stories, MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad produced a web film titled ‘Inseparable’ to mark the return of their ‘You Share, We Donate’ campaign in support of the Malaysian Relief Agency’s (MRA) aid for frontliners. “Our frontliners have been working relentlessly since the very beginning of the pandemic. They are a huge source of inspiration which motivates us to serve our community better. We truly hope our donation will bring some joy to MRA’s beneficiaries,” said MR D.I.Y. Group Vice President of Marketing, Mr Andy Chin. “Last Chinese New Year, our first ‘You Share, We Donate’ campaign was very well received and we realised how impactful these initiatives can be. Being a Malaysian brand for Malaysians, we are always looking for ways to show gratitude to our national heroes and be a source of strength for them throughout this difficult time. We salute you, and we are here for you.” The 3-minute web film is a powerful tribute expressing the hardships faced by frontliners and their loved ones during the holiday season. Uploaded on their official Facebook page @ MR DIY, the Group encouraged rakyat to share the web film via Facebook. With each share, the homegrown retailer would donate RM1 to the MRA, a non-profit humanitarian organisation. As a result, MR D.I.Y. garnered 3.9 million views and 4,220 shares over the duration of the 3- week campaign in December, resulting in a cash voucher donation of RM4,220 to the MRA. “We produced this short film to reassure our community that though we may be physically apart from our loved ones, we remain inseparable in our hearts. Aside from our previous contributions of face masks and protective gear, this ‘You Share, We Donate’ campaign is another way for us to show our appreciation to frontliners, who have made unimaginable sacrifices for the betterment of our nation,” added Mr Chin. Since the beginning of the new year, we’ve seen an increase in COVID-19 cases throughout Malaysia. In the true spirit of #KitaJagaKita, MR D.I.Y. Group would like to remind the rakyat to take necessary precautions and stay home whenever possible. With our healthcare ecosystem currently operating at almost full capacity, it is our collective responsibility to do our part and ease the burden on our frontliners as much as we can.
