Sampingan Application Users are Increasing Because of Many Layoffs

Application developer startup to look for part-time jobs, Sampingan, revealed that there has been an increase in the number of users (Kawan Sampingan) and business partners in the application.

This increase was driven by the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, which at the same time caused many layoffs to occur or some people were forced to stop working temporarily.

Thus, these conditions make the need for both primary and additional income the reason the community needs new jobs.

Wisnu Nugrahadi, CEO and Co-founder of Sampingan said, “In March to May 2020 there was an increase in the number of partners or Kawan Sampingan who joined, namely more than 50,000 people.”

“The need for primary and additional income is the reason they join. With the many types of work available on our platform, they can choose according to their expertise, abilities, and time,” Wisnu Nugrahadi, CEO and Co-Founder Sampingan explained.

At present, the Sampingan application offers several types of work, including sales, surveyors, couriers, and warehouse staff.

At present, more than 8,000 resellers are joining the Sampingan platform. “Our goal is to provide equal opportunities for all Indonesian people to earn income, by taking existing jobs or running their businesses through a reseller network program,” Wisnu said.

 “Enough to register in the Sampingan application, it will immediately get access to dozens of items that can be resold. By buying the goods offered, you will automatically be registered as a Sampingan reseller, free of charge,” Wisnu explained.

Wisnu continued, the advantage of this reseller program is that only with fees starting from Rp. 50,000 users can get products at reseller-specific prices.

An Increase in Demand for Workers from Sampingan Business Partners

While in terms of business partners, Wisnu explained that currently there is an increase in demand for workers from business partners, especially for the type of work in logistics such as couriers, warehouse staff, and administrative officers.

This demand has increased five times in the period from March to May 2020. This is influenced by the implementation of physical distancing and the appeal to stay at home so that people rely more on shipping services when ordering goods or shopping.

Increased demand for workers also occurs in the type of work done from homes such as administrative officers, customer service, and telesales.

“Not only provide employment opportunities to the community, but we also become workforce solutions for companies,” Wisnu added.

At the end of last year, Sampingan had more than 150 thousand independent work partners, called agents. Local startups also received an investment of US $ 1.5 million or around Rp 21.3 billion from Golden Gate Ventures, Antler, and also several angel investors in October 2019.

Sampingan Contributes in the Middle of the Pandemic

Wisnu explained that his company carries three main principles, namely speed, quality, and cost. He claims, his service saves workers by Sampingan business partners up to 70%.

As the Sampingan CEO, Wisnu also explained that Sampingan also has implemented work from home for all employees. They also implement a hygiene protocol for everyone, including Kawan Sampingan, a term for Sampingan partners.

Sampingan is also holding a #BuatOrangRumah campaign in the pandemic period. Through this campaign, Sampingan distributes thousands of masks to Kawan Sampingan and collaborates with Cloth Masks to distribute masks to people in need.

To Kawan Sampingan, the distribution of masks by the type of non-medical scuba face mask is done in stages to those who have to work outside.

“In addition to distributing masks to Kawan Sampingan, we also conduct health SOP socialization which can also be accessed on the Sampingan platforms and websites,” Wisnu concluded.
