A Singapore-based financial company, ATOME Financial, has spread its wings to Indonesia. Named Atome Indonesia, the company has ambitions to expand financial access for Indonesian people who have not been served by banking institutions through Artificial Intelligence technology.

To achieve these ambitions, ATOME Indonesia will be led by Wawan Salum. Wawan himself has a long career in the banking world because he has worked at Citibank, ABN Amro, and HSBC. Before becoming CEO of ATOME Indonesia, Wawan served as Head of Consumer Banking of Bank DBS Indonesia.

“I am very proud to be trusted to lead Atome Indonesia, whose ambition is to grow fast in the Indonesian market,” said Henry.

Wawan also expressed his belief in bringing the ATOME solution in Indonesia. “Our business is supported by AI technology and computer vision that will reach people who are currently not served by traditional banking systems,” said Henry.

“And as Indonesia’s middle class continues to grow, I see the opportunity that Atome has a good opportunity to provide premium services,” Wawan added.

Kredit Pintar will become Part of Atome Indonesia

In this penetration, fintech financing (lending) from Indonesia PT Kredit Pintar Indonesia (Kredit Pintar) will become part of Atome Indonesia.

Atome’s headquarter is in Singapore with additional offices in China, India, the Philippines and Vietnam. Atome appointed Managing Director of Consumer Banking of PT Bank DBS Indonesia (DBSI), Wawan Salum as Atome Indonesia’s CEO.

He was considered to have rich experience in the banking sector, especially since he worked at Citibank and ABN Amro Bank.

“We have a plan to introduce some of the most popular regional products, such as APaylater, which was launched in Singapore recently, to Indonesian consumers,” Wawan said in a press release on Thursday (6/2).

Atome targets Indonesian people who have not been served by financial institutions with various technological innovations.

“Our innovative business that is supported by artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision will help reach segments of the population whose needs have not been well met by traditional financial services,” said Henry.

Consumer Growth is One of Atome’s Focuses

He will focus on growing consumers and expanding the scope of Atome’s partners with banks, e-commerce or other fintech.

Likewise in terms of market expansion and product development. When the middle class grows in Indonesia, said Wawan, there will be big opportunities to move their products and services to more premium segments.

This effort is considered to be even more significant when Kredit Pintar is part of Atome Indonesia. Kredit Pintar is being charged because it is considered to be a pioneer in the use of AI technology in providing financial services in Indonesia.

Kredit Pintar has disbursed loans of more than IDR 6 trillion in 2019. That number exceeds the company’s target, which grew 100% from the previous year’s distribution of IDR 2.2 trillion.

Since its establishment in April 2018, Kredit Pintar has channeled a total loan of IDR 8.5 trillion. This loan was distributed to 1.9 million borrowers throughout Indonesia, of which 60% came from Java.

Get to Know ATOME Financial

ATOME Financial itself is a financial product brand from a Singapore-based company, Neuroncredit Pte Ltd. Established in 2017, Neuroncredit expands its services to the Philippines in 2018. Mid-2019, Neuroncredit rebrands its service to ATOME.

One of the bestselling products that ATOME will prioritize is APaylater. This is an interest-free installment service that was released in Singapore recently. “I see innovations in the fields of payment, credit scoring, and fintech will be the key to expanding financial access for segments that have not been served,” said Henry.

The footprint of ATOME’s presence in Indonesia itself is not exactly new. ATOME has a close relationship with Kredit Pintar because they both use technology built by Chinese fintech companies, Advance.ai. Alongside with ATOME’s presence in Indonesia, in the future, Kredit Pintar will be part of the ATOME Indonesia group.
