A startup or startup that offers a digital payment system solution for educational institutions, InfraDigital Nusantara, claims to have succeeded in attracting dozens of schools and universities in the country to join as members through the IDN network.

InfraDigital Nusantara’s Head of Operations, Indah Maryani, saw various ways done by schools and universities in order to pay PPDB (New Student Acceptance) money online.

The most common is to make forms online through Google Forms or via the WhatsApp instant messaging application. Especially now there is an outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

It also responds to Circular Letter No. 4 of 2020, in which the Ministry of Education and Culture requires all educational institutions not to hold PPDBs (school registration) involving parents and students to attend school.

This means that all educational institutions, both schools, madrasas, universities, and tutoring apply PPDB online. However, there are different from dozens of schools and universities that have joined as members of the IDN network.

“This is actually our new program in early 2020, where we offer free PPDB to all educational institutions. Both those who have joined or not, during the COVID-19 outbreak,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday (30/4) 2020.

The Documentation Process Becomes Shorter

He said initially only offered this program to the 350 educational institutions that had joined and implemented online payments through the IDN network. Unexpectedly, the enthusiasm of educational institutions for PPDB online was so great that it was finally opened to the public, aka non-members.

“We are grateful that in fact there are dozens of other schools and universities that have just joined because they need the PPDB system online. The process of registering students or students which could have taken 1-2 days due to the lengthy documentation process, could be shortened to just 15 minutes,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive of InfraDigital Nusantara, Ian McKenna added, schools or universities can validate student and student data with uploaded documents.

Furthermore, they can make payment for registration through IDN network channels, for example, Indomaret, Alfamart, Tokopedia to Gojek, so that it is safer and more convenient for parents and students or students in making transactions.

When asked why this new service was made free, McKenna only said it was a shared responsibility to help each other in difficult times like now, in the hope of helping schools and universities implement PPDB online, as well as supporting government programs in preventing the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Dozens of schools and universities can use a special integrated link, whose website is similar to registration services at major universities, and can even make online payments on various channels. Parents can see the status of registration and billing through the IDN Network application,” McKenna said.

Since its release in early 2018, the start-up company graduated from GnB Accelerator has grown rapidly and has brought more than 90 schools, universities, tutors, and boarding schools to the digital financial system. Last year, InfraDigital helped schools manage and expedite education bill payments of up to Rp24 billion for more than 20,000 students.

He added, online payments are needed by schools to make it easier for parents to make school payments anywhere. According to him, there are currently many school TU systems that only accept cash payments due to a lack of resources for the development of payment technology.

The products offered by InfraDigital to educational institutions are software to manage school fees in a cashless and paperless manner.
