An investment company, EV Growth leads the funding of the Singapore-based healthcare startup series B, Homage. Alternate Ventures, KDV Capital, and HealthXCapital are involved in this investment.

Homage is a startup that provides professional, technology-based nurse services. The fresh funds are planned to be used by the company to improve three services.

The first focus is to improve the ability of nurses. “We will also launch comprehensive and personalized health services through web and mobile platforms available to nurses, corporations and consumers,” Homeage Co-founder and CEO Gillian Tee said in a press release on Monday (1/13).

Homage also wants to strengthen the medical services division. They will do this by building a network of quality doctors and drug logistics services. In addition, it provides skilled nurses, assistants for daily activities and expert nurses in the rehabilitation field which includes physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Second, working with stakeholders from the private sector and government to improve the accessibility and affordability of nurse services. The company will also continue to develop technology platforms for corporations.

Third, regional expansion to open access to better, more affordable and reliable nursing services in the Asia Pacific. You do this by increasing the number and quality of the professional nurse community on the platform while building a long-term care service infrastructure that has been needed for a long time.

In 2050, the number of elderly people is estimated to exceed children throughout the world. In Asia, this condition will drive a surge in demand for health and care services.

Homage Wants To Be a Solution in the Future

Gillian said Homage wanted to be a solution to the potential shortage of nurses in the future using technology. “We plan to launch services in five countries in the region (Southeast Asia) in the next two years, including Indonesia,” he said.

Managing Partner EV Growth and Co-founder of East Ventures Willson Weather said, increasing the elderly population and decreasing the level of total fertility is inevitable. Urbanization and a fast-paced work environment, he said, make nurses for the elderly an important service.

“Gillian and her team consistently strive to make on-demand nurse services as accessible as possible, quickly and reliably,” Willson said. Moreover, an increasing number of elderly people also occurs in Indonesia.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of elderly people in Indonesia increased by 7.56% from 18 million in 2010 to 25.9 million last year. “At the same time, there is a high demand for nurses from various countries around the world,” he said.

In 2019, Indonesia will send about 300 elderly nurse experts to work in Japan. Willson is also optimistic that the services provided by Homage can bridge those who need nurse services for the elderly and nurses in Indonesia.

“Homage has built a good image and strong capabilities in Singapore. We want to bring these capabilities and service standards to Indonesia, “Willson said.

During 2019, Homage Growth Reached 400%

For the record, Homage’s business to business (B2B) growth is more than 400% in 2019. Specifically, services in Malaysia have grown six times. Homage successfully built a database of more than 2,000 professional nurses in Southeast Asia.

Through its platform, Homage ensures the expertise, motivation, and skills of each of its nurses through the selection and interview process. The technology used by companies can measure the expertise, experience, and motivation of each employee with a shorter time and broader scope.

In addition, Homage uses technology to match clients and service user organizations with experts who best suit their needs.
