Be a part of Germany’s Successful Vocational Education & Training System

A Dual Vocational Training (DVT) programme is a great way to prepare for students’ future career in Germany. The DVT programme was created to bring attention to the skills gap in Germany’s numerous vocational and technical disciplines.

The duration of these programmes is typically between two and three and a half years, and students will receive a combination of practical training at a company and theoretical training at a vocational school. During this time, students will acquire knowledge, skills and necessary job experience needed for their future career.  Through this pathway, students will learn to cope with the ever-changing demands of their duties and will be more independent and responsible at the end of their practical training.

To date, almost 400,000 German companies offer dual vocational training roles, and students do not have to pay tuition fees, just like students at a German public university. They will also be paid an allowance for the duration of their apprenticeship, which will assist them in covering their living expenses. Some organisations are more generous than others, paying their trainees between €500 and €800 per month.

Director of German Educare, Jonathan Lau said, “Students who are accepted into our DVT Preparation Programme can choose the positions or jobs they are interested in. This ensures that they receive proper on-the-job training with the right employers.

“We also had the opportunity to learn more about the S+C Academy during our recent visit to Schmidt + Clemens GmbH + Co. KG headquarters in Lindlar, Germany, a leading manufacturer of stainless steel components as well as a provider of plant and machine building services. We are delighted that they are now accepting Malaysian students under their Dual Vocational Training programme.

“Schmidt + Clemens, as a global industry leader, provides training at their state-of-the-art training centre, as well as excellent promotion chances in a variety of professions including machine and plant operator, welding specialist , turning operator, and many more,” he said.

DVT is a popular option for German students who want to continue their education. In fact, about 50% of all high school graduates will select the DVT programme over a local institution. The DVT qualification is recognised throughout Germany and students are not tied to a specific company after completing their apprenticeship. Companies, on the other hand, are more willing to retain their former students as employees as the DVT programme is an investment in securing talent for their company.

German Educare helps connect talented Malaysian students with leading companies in Germany and prepare them for success through language classes, cultural training workshops, visa applications, post-arrival assistance and more.
