34 Startups Participate in the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement
A total of 34 startups were selected to take part in the final stage of the 2020 National 1000 Startup Digital Movement Demo Day, which aims to introduce their digital solution prototypes.
The 2020 National 1000 Startup Digital Movement Program itself has been taking place in 17 Indonesian cities since last year. More than 8,780 aspiring startup founders are joining this program.
The General Director of Information Applications of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said that the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement program was an effort by the government to open opportunities for anyone with an interest in creating digital solutions.
“After going through various stages of debriefing startup insights and sharpening ideas from solutions to problems to be solved, Demo Day is an event intended for startup founders to introduce prototypes they have built over the past six months,” said Semuel, quoted from the statement of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Wednesday ( 31/3/2021).
Registration to take part in Demo Day has been opened from March 3 and closed on March 14, 2021, and has succeeded in getting 166 registrants from 17 cities that host the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement.
“Startups that have completed registration documents are then curated again by local activists until 34 startups are selected which are expected to present, introduce, and show more innovations on their live platforms,” said the man who is intimately called Sammy.
In the 1000 Startup Digital National Movement Demo Day, startup founders were given the opportunity to be able to present their products to the public.
This Demo Day will be filled with 34 selected startups who have completed all stages of Ignition, Networking, Workshop, Hacksprint, Bootcamp, until they qualify for the Incubation stage in the implementation of the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement program in 2019 to 2020.
These 34 startups will then be curated by the curation board. Curation board members come from elements of Venture Capital, Startup Activists, and the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement team.
Selected the Top 10 for the Next Stage
The curation board includes Andreas Dymasius Sitorus who is a Senior Investment Associate of Skystar Capital, Arung Sulthan as Investment Associate of Alpha Momentum Indonesia, and Leonika Sari as Founder & CEO of Reblood.
Then there is also Anka Raharja as the Sub-Coordinator for the Implementation of the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement of the Ministry of Communication and Information and Sebastian Alex Dharmawangsa as the Program Director for the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement.
“Next, the curation board will determine the 10 best startups that will be given the opportunity to do live pitching in front of the jury and the wider community,” he said.
According to the plan, the peak of the 1000 Startup Digital National Movement activities will take place for one day on Saturday, April 17 online. The live pitching session and the awarding of the three winners were carried out in three categories, namely Most Innovative, Most Marketable, and Public Choice Award.
During the Pandemic held Online
To support health protocols during the pandemic, the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement in 2020 will be held online, and can be accessed by anyone and anywhere in Indonesia without exception.
The stages of this program are divided into 5 stages, namely Ignition, Workshop, Hacksprint, Bootcamp, and finally Incubation.
During the Ignition activity, participants took part in a class discussing six important sectors in Indonesia which were brought directly by speakers from various fields and expertise in the Indonesian startup ecosystem, namely the logistics, health, marine, education, agriculture, and tourism sectors.
By raising these six focus sectors, according to the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate, the National 1000 Startup Digital Movement will be a moment where prospective founders and startup startups make big innovations later in the Indonesian digital ecosystem, which will solve big problems.
