Support Digital Campus, goKampus Announces Pre-Series A Funding
Edutech startup digital campus service provider, goKampus just got pre-series A oversubscribed. The funding includes Sovereigns Capital and SALT Ventures as the lead of the fund. On the other hand, there are Azure Ventures and several Asia Pacific investors who also support this funding round.
“We are very pleased and proud to be able to secure funding from such an extraordinary investor. We believe they will bring the capacity and network that will help goKampus grow faster,” said GoKampus CEO, Nathanael Santoso.
goKampus will use this funding to continue growth in several areas. First, goKampus will strengthen technology products by utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning to improve student learning experiences.
“For example, by providing cloud-based lectures, screening student academics, matching study programs, and counseling,” he wrote in an official statement, Friday (4/6/2021).
Then, doubled the number of teams to serve the rapidly growing needs of students on the platform. As well as increasing student-university partnership acquisition initiatives and efforts.
The goKampus platform provides access to higher education services in one application. Starting from registering for campus majors, virtual teaching and learning activities, seeking scholarships and educational loans, to internship opportunities for university graduates.
250 Thousand Active Student Users
This edtech startup has managed to gather more than 250,000 active student users and 400 university partners spread across various parts of the world including Australia, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States, and Indonesia.
In 2021, student placements through goKampus’ Instant Approval feature have increased by 30 times compared to the same quarter of 2020.
Nathanel said Sovereign’s Capital provides connections and accelerates growth in Indonesia, as well as a strong network in the US.
“Meanwhile, SALT Ventures’ strong media presence in Indonesia makes it easier for us to increase the number of student users on the platform,” he said.
Cloud University GoKampus
In order to strengthen the digital campus ecosystem, in January 2021, goKampus has released the goKampus Cloud University program. The campus is predicted to be the first to offer an on-demand digital business management curriculum equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Indonesia.
This program allows students to attend lectures anytime and anywhere without restrictions. This cloud-based campus also incorporates film into the curriculum, so that students get a more interesting and educational learning experience.
The program also provides job-ready university courses on-demand. The cost to join this program is very affordable, around 40 percent compared to tuition fees at conventional universities.
Students who graduate will receive a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from goKampus partner campuses in various countries. “We plan to launch this latest version of the digital university experience in July,” concluded Nathanael.
Indonesia Has the Lowest Percentage of Undergraduates in ASEAN
Currently, Indonesian students annually spend around IDR 570 trillion (US$ 40 billion) on higher education programs, but the sector has not yet been digitized on a large scale and still poses many challenges in terms of access.
Based on World Bank data, the percentage of Indonesia’s population aged over 25 years who earned a bachelor’s degree in 2016 was still below 9%, the lowest among all member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In January 2021 goKampus has launched the goKampus Cloud University program as the first digital university to offer an on-demand digital business management curriculum equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Indonesia.
This program allows students to attend lectures anytime and anywhere without restrictions. This cloud-based campus also incorporates films into the curriculum, so that students get a more exciting and educational learning experience.
The program also provides job-ready university courses on-demand. The cost to join this program is very affordable, around 40% compared to tuition fees at conventional universities.
