Tokopedia Releases Waqf Feature, Bukalapak Launches Serambi Masjid
An e-commerce startup, Tokopedia launched the cash waqf feature on the Tokopedia Salam page. Meanwhile, Bukalapak makes the Serambi Masjid application during Ramadan.
Tokopedia Director of Public Policy and Government Relations Astri Wahyuni said the company is collaborating with the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI), Dompet Dhuafa, and Rumah Zakat to create a cash waqf feature.
“This is to support the cash waqf movement launched by the government. This is also so that national economic growth continues to grow,” Astri said during a virtual press conference, Wednesday (28/4).
Quoted from the official BWI website, cash waqf is a waqf made by a person, group, institution, or legal entity in the form of cash. The form of cash waqf distribution can also be in securities.
Through this feature, Tokopedia users can distribute cash waqf starting from IDR 10 thousand to IDR 100 million. To do this, go to the Tokopedia Salam page, then select cash waqf.
Then select a waqf channeling partner and payment method. After the transaction, the user will receive a report regarding the use of waqf. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had said that the national potential for cash waqf reached IDR 188 trillion.
Overall, the potential for waqf assets is IDR 2,000 trillion. Currently, CWLS has collected more than IDR 54 billion. As of the end of last year, the total cash waqf collected and deposited in the bank was IDR 328 billion. Meanwhile, the project-based waqf is IDR 597 billion.
Digital Platforms Can Maximize Potential Donations
Head of the BWI Implementing Agency, Mohammad Nuh, said that the potential for large cash waqf needs to be maximized, one of which is through a digital platform. “This is so that the impact of the great potential of cash waqf can be felt by the community effectively,” he said.
Apart from this new feature, the company also presents a number of other features in Tokopedia Salam that can be used to share kindness. Starting from the features of Donation, Zakat, Fidyah, Charity Box, and Qurban.
For information, the value of Zakat Maal transactions on Tokopedia itself has doubled in Ramadhan 2020 compared to Ramadan 2019.
During the last Ramadan 2020, the value of Zakat Maal transactions on Tokopedia increased by 2x compared to Ramadan 2019. On the other hand, Tokopedia users have collected nearly IDR 80 billion through the Donation, Zakat and Qurban features throughout 2020.
“Tokopedia, through Tokopedia Salam, will continue to support the government’s efforts to create an increasingly advanced sharia economic ecosystem through the use of technology,” said Astri.
Bukalapak Launches a Feature for Donations at Mosques
Apart from Tokopedia, Bukalapak has launched the Serambi Masjid application which allows people to donate to the mosque digitally. This unicorn hooked the Indonesian Mosque Council and the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) in Jakarta and Bandung.
Mosques that collaborate with Bukalapak through the Serambi Masjid program will have a unique QR code that can be accessed by the public through posters affixed to each mosque to pay for donations to the mosque.
Bukalapak’s CEO, Rachmat Kaimuddin, invited the public to take advantage of Bukalapak’s services and features so they could pray and do good deeds more easily and comfortably.
“This program is a solution for people who want to continue carrying out activities such as Infaq and Shodaqoh for mosques digitally,” said Bukalapak CEO Rachmat Kaimuddin in a press release, Wednesday (28/4).
Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council Jusuf Kalla hopes that the program will help mosques and the wider community.
“The second Ramadan in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic has had many impacts, especially for people to be able to worship directly at the mosque,” he said.
