Tokopedia, OVO and Grab joint donations of IDR 1 billion each to help fight the coronavirus or Covid-19 in Indonesia. The total donation of IDR 3 billion will later be used to help provide self-protection equipment for medical workers.

The three companies are collaborating with the BenihBaik crowdfunding startup led by senior journalist Andy F. Noya. This initiative also collaborates with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to distribute donations through the Covid-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling.

“By donating a fund of IDR 1 billion, we hope to open a donation channel so that the community will contribute to this initiative,” Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Tokopedia Leontinus Alpha Edison said in a press release on Tuesday (3/24).

Leontinus also said Tokopedia had also donated more than 150 thousand mouth masks for Indonesian Workers (TKI), Household Assistants (ART), ship workers, and other migrant workers who tended to not have access to health products.

Tokopedia, OVO, and Grab will also open donation channels on their respective platforms so that the public can contribute against Covid-19. The program is also working with BenihBaik and will be distributed for various urgent needs related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
