Tokopedia, OVO and Grab Joint Donations of IDR 3 Billion to Fight Covid-19

Tokopedia, OVO and Grab joint donations of IDR 1 billion each to help fight the coronavirus or Covid-19 in Indonesia. The total donation of IDR 3 billion will later be used to help provide self-protection equipment for medical workers.

The three companies are collaborating with the BenihBaik crowdfunding startup led by senior journalist Andy F. Noya. This initiative also collaborates with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to distribute donations through the Covid-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling.

“By donating a fund of IDR 1 billion, we hope to open a donation channel so that the community will contribute to this initiative,” Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Tokopedia Leontinus Alpha Edison said in a press release on Tuesday (3/24).

Leontinus also said Tokopedia had also donated more than 150 thousand mouth masks for Indonesian Workers (TKI), Household Assistants (ART), ship workers, and other migrant workers who tended to not have access to health products.

“In addition, we also opened two channels to donate to invite people to help procure multivitamins, PPE (standard personal protective equipment) and sanitizers for medical personnel, namely through the feature” Assist COVID-19 Fighters “and Tokopedia Checkout page,” Leontinus said.

OVO President Director Karaniya Dharmasaputra said the donation would be used to buy personal protective equipment such as masks, hand sanitizers, multivitamins and gloves for medical workers. “Where these tools are needed when the number of patients continues to surge,” he said.

In addition, OVO also launched an assistance program for merchants including SMEs by distributing 10 thousand hand sanitizers in the Greater Jakarta and Bali. “We have also conducted socialization to all merchants to be vigilant and continue to maintain cleanliness after making a transaction,” said Karaniya.

Grab Indonesia’s Managing Director Neneng Goenadi said the company was committed to supporting the performance of medical personnel as the frontline in Indonesia to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
