Edutech startup Zenius has reportedly laid off more than 200 employees. The termination of employment (PHK) was confirmed by the company through its official statement to the Liputan6.com team, Tuesday (24/5/2022).

“We are currently experiencing the worst macroeconomic conditions in recent decades,” Zenius wrote in a statement.

It is stated that companies must adapt to dynamic macroeconomic conditions that affect the industry. Because of this, Zenius has decided that it is necessary to consolidate and synergize business processes to ensure sustainability.

One of the implications of this strategy is the changing roles in several business functions along with the efficiency and optimization of business processes being carried out.

“After going through a comprehensive evaluation and review, the company announced that more than 200 of its employees had to leave Zenius,” said a spokesperson.

The company said that 200 Zenuis employees who were laid off would still receive severance pay in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations in Indonesia.

Zenius further stated that he understands that this is a difficult time for affected employees, so the company will continue their health insurance benefits until 30 September 2022, including for their family members.

“To help them get new opportunities, Zenius will also help them by sharing their personal data with other companies or educational institutions with their consent.”
